The Boston Bruins have won three straight Stanley Cups, and the future looks bright.
However, one question remains: how does the franchise get back to its winning ways, and if the Bruins can do so in an era when they are in need of continuity?
In an interview with the Boston Globe, Bob Hennessey, general manager of the Boston Celtics, said he would love to win the Stanley Cup again.
“We have to be a team that can win,” Hennessey said.
“We’ve got to be able to play our game and be successful.
It’s not about winning.
It just happens when you do it.
“When you win, that’s when you’re doing well. “
When you lose, that happens when things don’t work out.””
When you win, that’s when you’re doing well.
When you lose, that happens when things don’t work out.”
Hennessey said he was hoping for another Cup for the first time in eight years and that he is looking forward to playing the Bruins for another five to 10 years.
“I’m excited to see what we’re going to do,” Hennsey said.
“When you have two Stanley Cups and five to seven years, you start to think about how do we go on from here.
That starts to happen a little bit, but it’s not over yet.”
The Bruins have already been able to contend with a host of teams in the East, and while they could still be a long way from winning a Cup, they do have a few young prospects on the roster that could be key in a rebuild.
The Bruins are still in the hunt for a top-four spot in the Eastern Conference, and their most likely option would be to add a No. 1 center and a No 1 defenseman to help fill the void left by the departure of Tuukka Rask.
However, the Bruins would need to trade down to the seventh or eighth spot to get there.
Hennesay said the Bruins could be willing to trade for a No .8 defenseman to add some young talent to the team, but he also acknowledged the team has to get younger if it is to compete with the other top teams.
Hennesse said he wants to bring in a top defenseman to complement Rask, and he has been in talks with the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs and Los Angeles Kings.
However the Bruins are not alone in looking for a center or defenseman in the upcoming drafts.
The Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers and Boston Bruins are all looking for help up front, and a few teams have been linked to Boston.
“We’re always looking for the right pieces for our team to win and to win consistently,” Hynessey said, according to the Globe.
“There’s always a little more to it.
I think you’re always going to look at the positives and the negatives.
But at the same time, we’re always evaluating and looking at what we can do to help our team win.
We just need to do it consistently.”
The Globe article has more details on the Boston Red Wings’ scouting and development efforts and a lot of details about the Bruins’ rebuild.
The team has already added a lot to the roster, but Hennesley is adamant that the organization still needs to add more talent.
“You’re always doing more, but you’re never making it more,” Hnessey said of his job description.
“It’s always going on, but the important thing is to be better.”
