New Scientist article Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: the final book in the Harry Potter series, will be published on April 5th, 2019, by Hachette Books, the company behind the Harry Potters franchise, said in a statement.
The book will also feature the first look at new characters in the series and an exclusive interview with Rowling, as well as a new feature on the first book in Harry Potter: Philosopher of the Stone, which is due to be released later this year.
The publisher has also released a new short story in advance of the book’s release, which will be available to buy as an ebook and on the publisher’s website for a limited time.
There’s no word yet on how much it will cost, although fans of the Potter series will likely find the new short stories a bit of a bargain.
Rowling’s first novel, published in 2007, sold more than 30m copies worldwide and spawned a film adaptation, which won her the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress.
It also spawned a new film adaptation in which the lead role was played by Harry Potter himself, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
The film itself is scheduled to release on 21 March 2019, although some critics have criticised the movie’s plot, which involves a group of students who get locked up in a tower to prevent them from learning the secrets of the wizarding world.
“We’re delighted to be able to announce that Harry Potter will be released in 2019,” said Hachettte.
“The first book was a huge success and the fans have responded to the message that it was something that was meant to be read for generations.
Now we’re excited to bring the book to life for the first time.”
