In a world where electric cars are increasingly popular, Americans pay a premium for them.
In fact, according to a new report from automotive website Jalopnik, Americans spent more than twice as much on a 2016 model year battery pack in the U, which is the most expensive in the world.
Here’s what you need to know about how much Americans pay for a car.
The U.K. has the lowest average price per mile for a 2018 Tesla Model S sedan, at $17,400.
That makes it the least expensive car in the country, but it comes at a premium.
According to Jalopek, a 2015 Nissan Leaf costs about $19,000.
That’s a bit cheaper than the 2018 Toyota Prius, which was reported to cost about $29,000 in the United States.
A 2018 Nissan Leaf comes with a six-speed manual transmission.
When it comes to luxury, the 2016 Lexus RX450h is the best-selling car in America with a price tag of $52,000, but that car has a starting price of $34,000 and can be had for about $15,000 more.
In fact, the 2015 Lexus SR500h, the car with the best value per mile, was only $12,000 cheaper than a comparable Toyota Priuses.
It’s not just American luxury that’s expensive, either.
A 2016 Cadillac Escalade starts at $47,500, but the Escalades are still a bit pricey when it comes time to get a new one.
There are other ways to save on car purchases, though.
The 2018 Chevrolet Spark EV starts at just $22,000 for the base model and $32,000 per year.
On top of that, the 2017 Mazda6 starts at less than $30,000 but costs $37,000 when you add the $1,500 destination fee.
So if you want to save money on car insurance, it’s important to consider where you live.
While a few American cities have the lowest premiums, the top three are Honolulu, Las Vegas, and Detroit.
